Britain has requested a new United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Sudan.
A diplomatic source said that UK is calling for an emergency and open UNSC session on Sudan as soon as possible, adding that British forces are on alert to carry out evacuations in Sudan.
The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced Friday it had "agreed to a ceasefire for three days" to "enable citizens to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and allow the flow of humanitarian services",
"The armed forces hope that the rebels will abide by all the requirements of the armistice and stop any military moves that would obstruct it," the army said in a statment.
