The United Kingdom (UK) has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for April.

Under the presidency of UAE during March, the council organized an open debate on women, peace, and security, which focused on empowering public-private partnerships to contribute to the economic empowerment of women in fragile and conflict-affected environments.

The UNSC also dealt with cooperation between the United Nations (UN) and Arab League (AL), in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Moreover, the council received the annual briefing on the activities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs in his capacity as the new CIO of the organization.

It also discussed many African issues as well as the Middle East.
