British Foreign Office has urged its citizens in Lebanon to leave the country immediately while commercial routes are still open. In an official statement, the ministry expressed deep concern about the highly volatile security situation in Lebanon.
The statement noted that given the top priority of the safety of British citizens, additional consular officials, border force personnel, and British Army personnel have been deployed to the region.
The ministry added that it has temporarily withdrawn the families of officials working at the British embassy in Beirut, assuring that the embassy there continues to provide support to British citizens.
The statement continued: "We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and at present all British citizens should leave Lebanon now, while commercial routes are still available."
