The Ugandan Ministry of Health announced on Saturday the registration of three new confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in the country, bringing the total number of infections to five.
According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the ministry stated that two of the new cases involve a driver and a medical worker. Both individuals had previous contact with the country’s first confirmed Ebola case.
The ministry added that the third case involves a Congolese woman who arrived in Uganda earlier this month. While she initially exhibited only mild symptoms, subsequent medical tests confirmed she was positive for the virus.
Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern.
