On Tuesday, the Ugandan Ministry of Health announced that the confirmed Ebola cases jumped to 9, including one death, following the recording of 6 new cases in the past few hours.
According to local media, the Director General of Health Services at the ministry, Charles Olaro, stated in an official statement that seven Ebola patients are currently being treated at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, while one case is being treated at Mbale Regional Hospital in the eastern part of the country.
Olaro added: "As part of the response to this outbreak, the Ministry of Health has isolated 265 contacts of the confirmed cases and implemented strict monitoring measures for them."
He also noted that the ministry has intensified its disease surveillance efforts and launched an awareness campaign to educate citizens about the health risks of the disease.
