On Tuesday, the UAE sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council condemning the Houthi attack on Abu Dhabi, which killed three people, and claiming that the Iran-backed militia "spreads terrorism" in the region.

"The UAE firmly condemns the Houthis' deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian objects, which is a flagrant breach of international law," said Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

"The Houthis' efforts to spread terrorism and disorder in our region have taken another step forward with this illegal and worrisome escalation. It's another another attempt by the Houthis to disrupt peace and security by exploiting the capabilities they've illegally acquired in defiance of UN sanctions," she added.

Drone attacks in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates capital, resulted in a fire, which ended in the explosion of three petroleum tankers, killing three persons and injuring six more. Another fire broke out near the new Abu Dhabi International Airport construction site.

The Houthi group in Yemen claimed credit for the attack, saying it was carried out "deep in the UAE."

"The UAE urges on the Security Council to speak with one voice and join in firmly and unambiguously denouncing these terrorist attacks, which were carried out in flagrant violation of international law," Nusseibeh said.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement,“we condemn the Houthi militia's targeting of civilian areas and facilities on UAE soil today. We reiterate that those responsible for this unlawful targeting of our country will be held accountable."

The UAE reserves the right to respond to these terrorist attacks and criminal escalation, according to the statement, describing them as crimes done in blatant violation of international law.

According to the ministry, the terrorist militia committed a heinous crime by spreading terrorism and disorder in the region to fulfil its illegal goals and objectives. It urged the international community to condemn and denounce terrorist attacks that target civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a fast recovery.
