UAE Sends to Syria 2nd Medical Aid Plane to Fight Covid-19

In coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the Emirates Red Crescent sent the second aid plane to Damascus on Friday to fight Covid-19 in Syria, and reduce the spread of Covid-19 pandemic as part of “The UAE’s Global Response to COVID-19”.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) mentioned that the plane carried 25 tons of medications and medical supplies that will benefit thousands of health care workers.

“This aid comes within the framework of the initiatives undertaken by the UAE in order to support international efforts to counter the global spread of the Coronavirus,” Secretary-General of the UAE Red Crescent Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi said.

Al Fallahi stressed that the UAE is exerting great efforts to help brotherly and friendly countries overcome the current health conditions, and stand by them to enhance their health capabilities in order to face corona’s effects .

“The Emirates Red Crescent has conducted this shipment of medical assistance in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent, under the framework of their joint cooperation between the two national societies, and the authority’s concern to strengthen the capacity of the Syrian National Assembly and support its health efforts in the health field on its local area,” Al Falahi added.

“The medical aid includes basic materials used to maintain the preventive and precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus," he added. "It also enable the medical staff, the front-line in this pandemic, to fulfill its role and support its efforts to contain the spread of the virus in Syria."
