On a splendid Ramadan evening during the closing ceremony of the 11th annual Tajweed Competition for the Holy Quran and its Sciences, 2025, Sheikh Rawi Ainuddin, the Grand Mufti of Russia and head of the Religious Administration for Muslims in Russia, was honored with the Tolerance Prize. The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, and patron of the prize.
The award to Grand Mufti Sheikh Rawi Ainuddin was given in recognition of his significant efforts in promoting high human values through his religious initiatives in Russia and globally. This deserved honor highlights his distinguished career in spreading the benevolent teachings of Islam and fostering the principles of tolerance and coexistence, reflecting his prominent role in serving Islamic and humanitarian causes.
The ceremony was attended by various political, social, and religious elites, as well as several ministers from the UAE community. The competition saw participation from 52,000 contestants from 103 countries, indicating the global interest in the Tajweed Competition for memorization, recitation, and study of the Holy Quran.
It is noteworthy that the UAE Tolerance Prize awarded to Grand Mufti Sheikh Rawi Ainuddin follows his previous accolade last year when he was named African Personality of the Year for his extensive efforts in promoting tolerance and love.
