On Wednesday, Sudanese Prime Minister (PM), Abdullah Hamdok received US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin, who is currently visiting Sudan, according to Sputnik News agency.

It is considered the first visit by a senior US official since President Donald Trump’s administration removed Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

"The historic visit will last for one day," the Official page of Sudanese PM said on Twitter.

The US official is expected to meet with Sudan’s leaders, including Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, head of the ruling sovereign council, as well as a number of Sudanese senior officials.

They will discuss possible US economic assistance, including potential debt relief and other issues of common interests.
