NHK channel reported the cancellation of at least 264 flights on Monday and Tuesday in Japan as the powerful Typhoon "Kanon" approaches the southern regions of the country.
Japanese airline "JAL" announced the cancellation of 67 flights on Monday that were scheduled to depart from and arrive at Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures.
Similarly, "ANA" announced the cancellation of 73 flights in the same direction on Monday and 124 flights on Tuesday.
It is expected that the number of canceled flights in the country will increase on Monday.
The typhoon is currently heading towards the Okinawa prefecture and the "Amami" archipelago in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan.
Currently, the typhoon's wind speed is 40 meters per second. According to the Japanese Meteorological Agency's forecast, its speed is expected to reach 45 meters per second by Monday evening.
