Two Scientists Win Nobel Prize in Chemistry

German Benjamin List and Scottish-born David MacMillan have won the 2021 Nobel prize in Chemistry “for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis.”

 

"The 2021 #NobelPrize in Chemistry has been awarded to Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan “for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis," Nobel Prize official account on 'Twitter' announced.

It is worth mentioning that, David MacMillan is a Scottish-born chemist and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the UK's Princeton University, where he served as head of the chemistry department from 2010 to 2015.

Benjamin List is an instructor at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, US, where he worked on stimulating antibodies.

He was appointed assistant professor at the Scripps Research Institute in the Department of Molecular Biology from 1999 to 2003.

In 2003, he became the first chair of a working group at the Max-Planck Institute for Coal Research and became director of the institute in July 2005.
