On Monday, Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al Qarni accompanied by two American astronauts, joined the International Space Station after the successful docking of the "Dragon 2" spacecraft carrying them to the International Station.
The flight of the (AX-2) mission crew took off at midnight from Sunday to Monday, and their journey to the International Space Station took about 18 hours after the spacecraft carrying them docked this evening.
The spacecraft carries 4 astronauts on board, the two Saudis, Bernawi, the first Saudi female astronaut, Al-Qarni, and the Americans Peggy Whitson and John Shoffner, on a 10-day mission, according to the "Middle East" website.
During the mission, the pioneers conduct 14 scientific research experiments in microgravity, which contribute to the scientific expansion and research in all its disciplines, and have an impact on the development of many programs and research.
Their tasks also include communicating with a selected audience on Earth to promote space research and the work of the International Station.
The SpaceX rocket launched from Florida on Sunday, at a speed of 28,000 km above Earth, towards the International Space Station, on a journey of approximately 16 hours.
This mission, called X-2, is the second fully private mission to the International Space Station, after the first mission in April 2022.
