A 50-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter were killed after Russian forces bombed an apartment building in the southeastern city of Zaporizhia early Sunday, Ukrainian authorities said.

Ukraine's state emergency service said a 46-year-old woman was pulled from the rubble and described as the baby's mother.

The secretary of the city council, Anatoly Kortev, indicated that two missiles destroyed one building and damaged dozens of other buildings during the strike launched by Russia during the night.

"The hateful Russian terrorists attacked Zaporizhia again and lives were lost," he wrote on the Telegram app.

This strike is the latest in a series of attacks that hit civilian targets recently in the region as the Russian-Ukrainian war enters its second year.
