Two “extremely dangerous” terrorists have been killed by Egyptian security forces in a shootout in Qalyubia governorate, Egypt’s interior ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The national security sector received a tip-off that some terrorists are planning to carry out hostile attacks, targeting the armed forces and police.
Security forces raided an apartment in El-Qalag district where the terrorists were hiding.
The shootout resulted in the killing of 7 other terrorist elements and the martyrdom of a police officer.
The forces seized an automatic rifle, a pistol, and a large amount of ammunition.
Legal proceedings have been taken and public prosecution has been notified for further investigations.
