Two Egyptian aid shipments arrived in South Sudan capital Juba on 11 and 12 September. They contained quantities of medicines, tents and military uniforms.
Further three Egyptian aid shipments will arrive on 13, 15 and 16 September respectively, following the coordination with the United Nations in this regard.
The first aid shipment, which arrived at Juba Airport on September 11, was received by South Sudan's Foreign Minister Awut Deng and Council of Ministers Martin Elijah as Secretary-General of the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC).
Ahmed Bahaa el-Din, Egypt`s Ambassador to South Sudan affirmed Egypt's full support for peace and prosperity in South Sudan as a matter of utmost importance, while the South Sudanese foreign minister expressed her profound thanks to Egypt for supporting peace in South Sudan.
While receiving the second shipment arrived in Juba Airport on September 12, South Sudan Minister of Health Riek Kok that expressed his country's thanks to Egypt, which stands with South Sudan in times of crisis.
South Sudan Deputy Foreign Minister Deng Dao said that the assistance came at the request of the National Pre-Transitional Committee, which visited Cairo to meet with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Noteworthy, Egypt is keen on supporting efforts to restore peace and stability in South Sundan as soon as possible.
