Twitter Threatens to Sue Meta Over 'Threads' Platform

Twitter threatened to sue Meta over its new platform, Threads, in addition, Twitter Daily News tweeted, on Thursday.

The account tweeted: "Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over "systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation" of Twitter's trade secrets and IP, as well as scraping of Twitter's data, in a cease-and-desist letter sent yesterday to Zuckerberg by Elon's lawyer Alex Spiro."

Meta launched Threads on Wednesday and gained more than 30 million sign ups and it seems that is taking on Elon Musk's Twitter, taking advantage of Instagram's users.

Spiro claimed in his letter that Meta hired former Twitter employees who "had and continue to have access to Twitter's trade secrets and other highly confidential information."

He added: "Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information."

On the other hand, Metal Spokesperson Andy Stone said on Threads: "No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee — that's just not a thing."

Moreover, A former senior Twitter employee told Reuters they have no idea about any former Twitter workers at Threads.

In the same context, Twitter owner Musk responded to the news, saying: "Competition is fine, cheating is not," in response to a tweet citing the news.
