Myanmar's new military government blocked access to Twitter and Instagram, after users flocked there in response to the military pulling the Facebook, according to D.W report on Friday. On Thursday, internet users in Myanmar had flocked to Twitter where they unleashed a hashtag campaign against the military putsch. The Twitter outages began late on Friday at about 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, "Twitter is now being restricted in #Myanmar on multiple network providers," said the monitor group NetBlocks, which tracks internet outages around the world.

On other hand, the Twitter spokeswoman explained that the move "undermines public dialogue and the rights of people to have their voices heard." "We will continue to call for an end to the devastating government-led closures," she said.

The move is the latest in a series of internet blockages to stifle dissent, just days after the coup that sparked global condemnation.

Moreover, Facebook was the first platform to be banned, on Wednesday. Coup leaders closed access to the platform, which accounts for half of Myanmar's 54 million people, until February 7.

At that time, Facebook Classified Myanmar a temporary high-risk location after a coup earlier past week, noting that it will remove any calls to bring armaments and protect posts criticizing the country’s military, according to The Verge report, on past Wednesday.

Earlier , the military took control of the country and declared a state of emergency for a year after detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically elected leaders of her ruling National League for Democracy.
