Countries of Southeast Asia and BRICS are strengthening their integration cooperation through the TV BRICS International Media Network. In April 2026, Malaysia’s leading broadcasting outlet, Astro AWANI, joined collaboration with the media network, TV BRICS reported.
The cooperation document in the field of media communications was signed by TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova and Astro AWANI Acting Editor-in-Chief Zaiful Ariffin.
The media partners will combine their efforts to develop a comprehensive agenda, enhance the professional growth of editorial teams, and promote the international development of ASEAN and BRICS countries. With the support of TV BRICS, Astro AWANI will gain access to news from other countries provided by original media sources and will be able to promote its own content abroad.
Zaiful Ariffin emphasised that a strong international presence is essential for Malaysia as it enables the country to advance Global South perspectives, attract investment and technological partnerships, and reinforce its role as a multilateral voice. According to him, engagement with TV BRICS allows Astro AWANI to broaden its editorial reach while maintaining balanced and critical coverage for the audiences.
Astro AWANI, founded in 2007, is part of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, one of Southeast Asia’s largest media conglomerates in satellite television and digital media. The outlet specialises in socio-political coverage spanning the economy, environment, education, culture, and sports and operates in both Malay and English.
TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova noted that the media network cooperates with leading media organisations in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand in Southeast Asia. In 2025, Malaysian National News Agency BERNAMA joined the multilateral content exchange.
Today, more than 100 media organisations from over 30 countries act as permanent partners of TV BRICS, while the media network’s information presence reaches 80 countries.
