Directorate of Communications rejected reports claiming that Turkey asked the British intelligence service to strengthen security for Syrian President Ahmed Al Shara.

In an official statement, the communications office said that claims published by a foreign news agency alleging that Turkey had requested assistance from MI6 were false and did not reflect reality.

The statement emphasized that Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization continues to maintain effective cooperation with international intelligence agencies and Syria’s security services, particularly in the fight against terrorism.

According to the statement, recent joint operations with Syrian authorities against the extremist group Islamic State demonstrate the ongoing collaboration between the two sides in counterterrorism efforts.

The communications directorate firmly denied that MIT had made any request to MI6 regarding the protection of President Al Shara or asked the British intelligence service to take on such a role.

Turkish authorities also urged the public not to believe or circulate unverified reports and claims, stressing the importance of relying on official sources for accurate information.
