The Turkish Ministry of Defense said in a brief statement that the "TCG BARBAROS" frigate of the Turkish Navy has carried out "transitional" military exercises with the American destroyer "USS ROSSVELET" since the beginning of October.

Turkey and the United States of America are both North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members.
On the other hand, the Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced that the United States and NATO have recently intensified their military activities 20-30 km away from the western Russian border.
