On Wednesday, Turkish parliament approved a motion on establishing a parliamentary friendship group with Egypt, Libya.
The Turkish lawmakers voted unanimously on the resolution, coinciding with the forthcoming meeting between representatives of the Foreign Ministries in Turkey and Egypt next week.
On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's ruling party proposed establishing a parliamentary friendship group with Egypt, as part of Ankara’s efforts to normalize ties with Cairo.
On his part, Turkish presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin affirmed that "the normalization of ties with Egypt will positively affect the situation in Libya."
Lately, Turkey is seeking to rebuild relations with Egypt and the Arab Gulf countries in an attempt to overcome the differences that left Ankara largely isolated in the Arab world.
