As a response to the Turkish Offensive in Syria, Egyptian Business tycoon Naguib Sawiris called for expulsion of the Ankara's ambassador to Egypt.

“Occupation of Syria is categorically rejected,” he tweeted on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday night, Turkish troops and their Syrian rebel allies entered northeast Syria, according to the defense ministry.

World Condemnation of Turkish Offensive in Syria

The minister announced starting a land offensive against Kurdish militia fighters.

Earlier, Turkish warplanes and artillery pounded Kurdish YPG targets with air strikes and artillery barrages in a cross-border military operation just days after U.S. troops pulled back from the area.

Turkish offensive in Syria has been widely condemned by Arab and European countries.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan claimed the aim was to eliminate what he called a “terror corridor” on Turkey’s southern border.

Trump Says he would devastate Turkey's economy

Turkey had been poised to enter northeast Syria since U.S. troops, who have been fighting with Kurdish-led forces against ISIS, started to leave in an abrupt policy shift by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Kurdish-led force in northeast Syria said Turkish bombing of the border region killed five civilians and injured dozens more.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) also reported three of its fighters were killed.

On his part, U.S. President Donald Trump said he would devastate Turkey's economy if Ankara's incursion in Syria wipes out the Kurdish population there.

Asked by a reporter if he was concerned about  Erdogan wiping out the Kurds, Trump replied: "I will wipe out his economy if that happens.”

"I've already done it once with Pastor Brunson," Trump said referring to U.S. sanctions slapped on Turkey over the detention of an American. "I hope that he will act rationally," he said.
