Turkish media confirmed, on Monday, that a 5.7-magnitude earthquake had been recorded in the eastern part of the country.
On the other hand, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced, on Sunday, that the death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck the country on February 6 had risen to 44,374.
Aftershocks continued to shake the area repeatedly, which caused panic among the local population, according to the Turkish government, which reported that 20 million people were affected by the consequences of the quake.
The United Nations (UN) assumes that 8.8 million people will be affected in Syria.
The earthquake’s death toll is rising almost daily, despite the passage of more than 20 days since its occurrence, while the authorities in Turkyie, or in neighboring Syria, whose north was also affected by the earthquake, did not announce any outcome of the number of missing people as a result of the earthquake.
The death toll from the earthquake in Syria has so far reached 5,900.
