Turkish Foreign Minister (FM) Hakan Fidan, speaking at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers' meeting in Istanbul, warned that Israel’s aggression against Iran will have serious negative consequences for the security and stability of the entire region.
He stressed that Israel is pushing the region toward catastrophe through its ongoing military escalation.
Fidan stated that Turkey will take all necessary measures to stop the Israeli attacks on Iran and called on the international community to prevent the war from escalating into a broader conflict.
He further noted that the latest Israeli strikes have caused a halt in negotiations between Tehran and Washington, emphasizing the urgent need to resume US-Iran talks as the only path toward de-escalation and restoring regional stability.
In a related context, the Turkish FM thanked Egypt and Qatar for their efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza.
He also welcomed Syria’s return to the OIC and highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at resolving the crisis in Sudan.
