The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu, marked the holiday season by hosting two guests from Gaza, Madlen and Ilyas, who are currently seeking refuge in Egypt after their home was destroyed during the conflict.
According to a statement shared by the ambassador, the gathering highlighted personal testimonies of displacement and resilience.
Ilyas expressed gratitude toward the Egyptian people, noting the compassion and support he and his family have received since arriving in Egypt.
He described how both individuals and institutions have shown consistent understanding and assistance in their daily lives.
Madlen reflected on her strong emotional and political attachment to her homeland. Despite the hardship of displacement, she affirmed her determination not to sever ties with Gaza and expressed her intention to return when conditions allow.
She also spoke about her extended family who remain in difficult circumstances in the region.
Ilyas, who has been attending school in Sudan before his displacement, was also noted for his musical interest and talent, particularly his aspiration to play the piano.
The ambassador concluded its statement by extending holiday greetings and emphasizing messages of solidarity and compassion.
