Turkish Airlines is set to resume flights to Damascus next week after a hiatus of more than ten years.

According to CEO Bilal Ekşi, the airline will operate three weekly flights beginning January 23.

Ekşi announced the development on the platform X, expressing a personal connection to Damascus and emphasizing the significance of the return.

The decision follows a recent visit by Syria's new Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, to Turkey, where he engaged in discussions with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and senior officials in Ankara.

This move aligns with the resumption of international flights at Damascus International Airport in recent days.

Notably, Syrian Airlines recently launched a flight to Sharjah, UAE, marking the first international flight since the fall of the Bashar Al-Assad regime.

Qatar Airways has also resumed its operations to Syria, offering three weekly flights, ending a 13-year suspension.
