Senior adviser to Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, Turki al-Sheikh, head of the kingdom's Entertainment Authority decided on Monday to drop all lawsuits filed against Egyptians who insulted him on social media outlets.

"Egypt has a great place in my heart, its people and its generous leadership also has special love," he wrote on his Facebook page.

He added, “I decided to stop all lawsuits filed against all those who insulted him on social media outlets”.

Social media users and a lot of Egyptians welcomed Turki al-Sheikh decision.

It is noteworthy that al-Sheikh faced waves of sharp criticism and insults by some Egyptians since he was owner of Egyptian team Pyramids FC and also after he acquired Spanish football club Almeria FC.

On September 11, Al-Sheikh announced that he had taken legal action against a number of Egyptians for insulting him on social media.

Al-sheikh has previously announced that he will drop any lawsuits against Al-Ahly SC board.

He also was appointed as Al-Ahly honorary president in December 2018 after he pledged to support the Red Devils financially and contribute, along with a number of Arab investors, in the construction of the club’s stadium.

In just five months in the post, Sheikh said he spent EGP 260 mln ($14.5m), but he stepped down in May after falling out with club officials.
