Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a fundamental requirement for achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. His remarks came during a joint press conference on Monday with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung.
Erdoğan said Turkey remains focused on maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and preventing further civilian casualties, stressing that the protection of innocent lives must remain a priority for the international community.
He reiterated that Turkey fully supports a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with an independent, sovereign Palestinian state and Jerusalem as its capital. According to Erdoğan, Palestinian statehood is not only a political demand but “the essential condition” for any meaningful and durable peace in the region.
The Turkish president also urged all friendly, allied, and partner nations to officially recognise the State of Palestine, saying international recognition is a crucial step toward building a stable regional order.
