Turkey has called on the United Nations to enforce a ban on arms supplies to Israel, as stated by its Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan.
This appeal was made during a press conference in Djibouti, held in conjunction with the Turkish-African Partnership Summit.
Fidan revealed that a joint letter, signed by 52 countries and two organizations, was submitted to the UN on November 1st.
Fidan emphasized that the letter urges all nations to cease the sale of arms and ammunition to Israel, reinforcing the notion that such transactions equate to complicity in the atrocities being committed.
He described the letter as an initiative launched by Turkey, which aims to highlight the need for global action against the ongoing violence.
The joint statement was endorsed by 52 countries, as well as the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Earlier in October, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had called for a UN resolution to prohibit arms sales to Israel, deeming it an effective solution for resolving the conflict in Gaza.
