Turkey has summoned the Iranian ambassador following the launch of a missile toward its territory.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that NATO defense systems intercepted and shot down a ballistic missile launched from Iran after it entered Turkish airspace.

The Ministry explained that NATO defense systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean managed to intercept and neutralize the missile before it could reach any targets within Turkish borders.

According to the Ministry, missile debris fell in an open area in the Gaziantep province in southern Turkey, with no casualties reported so far.

Turkish authorities confirmed that specialized agencies are monitoring the incident and assessing its repercussions amid the ongoing military escalation in the region.
