Turkey’s authorities ordered on Tuesday to arrest 238 people, on suspicion of having links with the Gulen movement, which Ankara claims was behind the failed 2016 coup, it is the famous accusation used by the Turkish regime against its opponents.
According to the official Turkish Anadolu news agency, the arrest operation took place in 6 provinces.
The agency said 160 people were arrested in the latest police raids ordered by prosecutors in Izmir. It added that the operation also targeted suspects in northern Cyprus, where Turkey has deployed its armed forces.
