Turkey on Tuesday celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic with patriotic fervor, honoring the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and reaffirming the nation’s commitment to democracy, progress, and peace.
In a national message marking the occasion, Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu highlighted how the Republic — reborn with renewed strength under Atatürk’s visionary leadership — has evolved over the past eight decades into a modern, dynamic state built on the principles of the Turkish nation.
"Over 102 years, the Republic has matured into a pluralistic democracy, achieving significant advancements in law, culture, education, the economy, and social policies. Turkey’s national defense capabilities and its armed forces have become among the leading military powers in the world, reflecting the country’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty and stability," Mutlu said.
The message also underscored Turkey’s steadfast commitment to the principle of “Peace at Home, Peace in the World,” a cornerstone of Atatürk’s foreign policy and a guiding vision for the country’s international relations.
The anniversary message paid tribute to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, along with his comrades-in-arms, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, remembering them “with mercy, gratitude, and respect.”
Festivities and official ceremonies were held across Turkey, featuring flag displays, parades, and cultural events celebrating the Republic’s founding on October 29, 1923.
