The ministry confirmed on Twitter that a commercial ship spotted a mine-like object near the Bosphorus coast in Turkey on March 26.
The Defense Ministry of Turkey mentioned that teams of Underwater Defense forces (SAS) were urgently transferred to the site of the accident. The team secured the object and "began deactivating it.
According to the Turkish "Star" newspaper, fishermen first spotted the object near Sarıyer port while sailing in the Black Sea.

The Russian Federal Security Service had accused the Ukrainian military of planting about 420 sea mines in the waters of the Black Sea in the vicinity of the ports of Odessa, Ochakiv, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhne, against the backdrop of Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The Russian Federal warned that these mines if they got out of their anchors, may reach the Bosphorus then to the Mediterranean basin.
In light of this announcement, the Turkish Navy asked the ships to track potential mines, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed that the Defense Ministry was taking the necessary measures against the backdrop of reports of stray mines in the black Sea.
