Burhanettin Duran, head of communications at the Turkish Presidency, has strongly condemned what he described as an Israeli law introducing the death penalty exclusively for Palestinians, warning it represents a dangerous escalation in policies against the Palestinian people.

In a statement, Duran said the measure reflects what he called a continuation of actions amounting to collective punishment, arguing that it undermines the rule of law and deepens discrimination and injustice. He described the move as an attempt to legitimize punitive measures targeting an entire population.

He added that such legislation marks a new phase of systematic repression, saying it highlights the severity of Israeli policies and what he characterized as discriminatory practices that have no place in law or humanitarian values.

Duran called on the international community not to remain silent, urging concrete steps in defense of justice, human rights, and universal principles.

He also reaffirmed Turkey’s position under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating that Ankara will continue to stand alongside what it views as oppressed peoples, including Palestinians, emphasizing that supporting their cause is a humanitarian responsibility.
