The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that NATO defense systems shot down a ballistic missile launched from Iran after it entered Turkish airspace.
The ministry explained that NATO defense systems deployed in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted and shot down the missile before it reached targets inside Turkish territory.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense added that missile debris fell in an open area in Gaziantep province in southern Turkey, with no casualties reported so far.
Turkish authorities confirmed that relevant agencies are monitoring the incident and assessing its implications, given the ongoing military escalation in the region.
