During a press conference, Tunisia's Independent High Authority for Elections announced Tuesday evening the preliminary results of the referendum on the country's new draft constitution.

The head of the commission, Farouk Bouaskar, said that the percentage of voting “yes” reached 94.60 percent (two million six hundred and seven thousand eighty-four yes answers). In comparison, the percentage of voting “no” was 5.40 percent (148 thousand and 723 votes).

The commission declared the acceptance of the draft text of the new constitution for the Tunisian Republic.

Bouaskar also pointed out that the referendum was conducted at home and abroad "in a tight manner, despite the campaigns of skepticism and attempts to confuse."
