Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the reopening of its consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi.
The Tunisian diplomatic mission will now provide consular services to Tunisian nationals residing in Benghazi, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Derna, Tobruk, Emssaad, Jalu, Al Bayda, Al Marj, Al Aqurah, Qaminis, Ajdabiya, Al Brega, and Kufra.
The reopening marks the end of a closure that lasted more than ten years, since 2014, when armed assailants launched a projectile that damaged the outer wall of the consulate building.
Tunisia also maintains a consulate in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
