Tunisia has raised health alert levels at airports and border crossings as part of precautionary measures against potential risks linked to Ebola and Hantavirus, according to local media reports.

Tunisian authorities have begun tightening health monitoring and inspection procedures at airports and border points, particularly land crossings, as part of a broader prevention strategy aimed at limiting the spread of infectious diseases.

The measures follow recommendations issued by health committees and developments reported in several countries, especially concerns surrounding Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as ongoing monitoring of Hantavirus-related infections.

Despite the heightened preparedness, Tunisian officials said there was currently no major risk or significant rise in infections inside the country.

Authorities are continuing to strengthen coordination among the ministries of health, transport and interior, alongside several specialised agencies, while also holding meetings with officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) to assess developments and evaluate risk levels.

The measures form part of Tunisia’s broader preventive health strategy aimed at enhancing readiness at points of entry and ensuring rapid response capabilities in the event of any suspected cases.
