Nihad Akinci, head of the Turkish-Egyptian Businessmen Association (TUMIAD), said that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries jumped last year to $10 billion.

Akinci added, during a Ramadan breakfast organized by the association on Sunday, that trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey has witnessed steady growth since the signing of the free zone agreement between the two countries in 2005, as it started with $1.5 billion until the amount reached $10 billion.

He added that Turkish businessmen are interested in investing in Egypt, as the value of their investments last year amounted to one billion dollars.

The number of Turkish companies investing in Egypt reached 200, 40 of which are major companies.

He stressed that the inclusion of agricultural products and the facilitation of obtaining a visa enhances trade and can double it.

He pointed out that the association celebrates this year the twenty-year anniversary of its founding.
