Egyptian actor Hany Ramzy denied Monday reports that he will run for the 2021 parliamentary elections, which is set to be held on October 21.
Multiple reports claimed that Ramzy had submitted his candidacy papers for the parliamentary elections in Minya district.
In a statement, the actor revealed that it was his brother, counselor Ehab Ramzy, who is running for parliament.
"My brother is a candidate on the National Unified List for Egypt, and as a routine procedure, he asked for a backup name, thus he chose mine," he stated.
The National Election Authority (NEA), chaired by Counselor Lashin Ibrahim, deputy president of the Court of Cassation, announced, on Monday, the final lists of the candidates in the coming parliamentary elections.
NEA announced that a total of 4,006 inpidual candidates and 8 electoral lists are scheduled to run.
On September 10, the NEA called on those who want to run for the elections to register their data as of September 17 till September 26.
