US media revealed that the supporters of the outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump are planning to demonstrate again and protest in Washington, DC, on January 20, during the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
Supporters of Trump appeared on social media sites such as Telegram and Parler, calling for major protests again, according to NBC.
Noteworthy, Trump has announced that he won’t attend Biden’s inauguration while Biden expressed his happiness that Trump will not attend, commenting: “it’s good he won’t attend”.
“I was told on the way over here that he indicated he wasn’t going to show up at the inauguration: one of the few things he and I have ever agreed on,” Biden said of Trump. “It’s a good thing, him not showing up.”
“He’s exceeded even my worst notions about him,” the president-elect said. “He is one of the most incompetent presidents in the history of the United States of America.”
However, Biden extended an invitation to Vice President Mike Pence saying: “I would be honored to have him there,” suggesting it would be an adequate way to fulfill the norm of presidents attending their successor’s inauguration in a nod to the peaceful transfer of power.
