Copper prices in New York rose to $5.30 per pound, according to Bloomberg, influenced by US President Donald Trump's efforts to impose new tariffs on the metal.
Copper prices have jumped 30% since the beginning of the year.
Trump had asked the Commerce Department in February to study imposing copper tariffs and submit a report within 270 days, but a decision could be reached before the deadline, according to an official familiar with the process, Bloomberg reported.
