Donald Trump is returning to the White House with a side hustle to promote a new luxury watch brand has so far been a flop.
Most of the newly elected president’s $100,000-branded watches remain unsold. According to David Gutin, a watch expert and project manager at Swiss watchmaker Montrichard, the maker of Trump tourbillon watches has received orders for just over 10% of the 147 solid gold, diamond-encrusted watches on sale at gettrumpwatches.com.
“We are currently developing a new website and improving marketing strategies to drive sales,” Gutin said in an interview in Switzerland.
Trump's luxury watches have attracted international attention since their launch last September, with critics questioning their price tag and whether potential buyers might be seeking political influence through their ownership.
