The British newspaper The Sunday Times reported on the chances of former US President Donald Trump in the upcoming US presidential elections.

The newspaper published an article by writer Alastair Dauber stating that "chaos in the Capitol (US Congress) represents the best hope" for Trump, who wants to win the presidency again.

The writer said that Trump will reappear next week, in his first media appearance in the new year.

The writer pointed out that the former president occupied a marginal space in US politics during the past weeks due to the focus on the issue of Joe Biden's secret documents.

He mentioned that the midterm elections were disastrous for Trump, as he lost most of his candidates, whom he chose on the basis of their agreement with his "false claim about fraud in the 2020 elections."

He stated that Trump announced his candidacy again days after that election, but failed to launch a campaign after this announcement, which left him behind in opinion polls from his most prominent Republican rival, Ron De Santis, the governor of Florida, who won the midterm elections by an overwhelming majority.
