On Tuesday, US President-Elect Donald Trump announced that he will attend the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral this Saturday in Paris.

He will join several world leaders and French President Emmanuel Macron.

It will be Trump's first foreign trip since his re-election few weeks ago. In the same context, Macron was one of the earliest world's leaders who congratulated Trump on his re-election.

Trump confirmed that he had accepted an invitation from President Macron to attend the grand re-opening of the 850-year-old cathedral which was nearly lost to flames in April 2019.

Trump posted on his Truth Social that Macron had "done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so. It will be a very special day for all!"

Saturday's ceremony will include a speech from Macron in front of more than 50 heads of state and government including German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
