President Donald Trump has ordered the revocation of security clearances for his predecessor Joe Biden, along with several high-ranking former White House officials.

The list of individuals affected includes Biden and his family members, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretaries of State Antony Blinken and Hillary Clinton, and former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Notably, the order also targets former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, a vocal critic of Trump.

In a memorandum to agency heads, released by the White House press office, Trump stated that these officials should no longer have access to classified materials.

He directed all executive departments and agencies to immediately revoke any active security clearances held by the named individuals.

Additionally, the order includes the cancellation of their unrestricted access to U.S. government security facilities.

Typically, former US presidents and senior national security officials retain security clearances as a courtesy, allowing them to stay informed on national security matters. However, Trump's move marks a significant departure from this tradition.

Trump himself previously faced scrutiny over security violations for retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence after leaving office. That investigation was ultimately dropped following his return to the presidency.
