US President Donald Trump announced that he has decided to revoke all documents, including pardons, that he claims his predecessor, Joe Biden, signed using an auto-signature device.
The Auto-Signature Device is used to accurately replicate a person's signature and is typically employed for large volumes of documents or those of a protocol nature. Presidents from both parties have used it to sign official letters and proclamations.
Trump and his supporters have leveled a series of accusations that Biden's use of the device during his presidency invalidates his actions or indicates that he was not fully aware of them.
It is unclear whether Biden used the device for the pardons.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Anyone who has received a pardon, commutation, or any other legal document signed in this manner should know that such document is completely null and void and has no legal effect."
Before leaving office in January, Biden issued several pardons, some for family members he wanted to protect from politically motivated investigations.
He also commuted sentences, including those for non-violent drug offenders.
An auto-pen is a device that replicates signatures using real ink, making it easier for public figures to sign documents in bulk.
