U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized on Wednesday that Washington's "top priority" in negotiations is to ensure that the Iranian regime is permanently prevented from possessing a nuclear weapon.
During a press conference, excerpts of which were published by the U.S. Department of State on the "X" platform, Trump stated: "We are achieving tremendous success in Iran. They no longer have a navy, an air force, or anti-aircraft equipment."
He added, "U.S. forces are flying freely over Tehran and have the capability to do whatever they wish."
President Trump continued: "Today, we could have destroyed a massive power plant, but we chose to exercise restraint in light of the ongoing negotiations. We are in a strong negotiating position; there will be no nuclear weapons, and Iran has agreed to that."
Trump further clarified that he is personally involved in the negotiations with Iran, noting that Tehran is "desperate" to reach an agreement.
