The White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump "seeks diplomacy" in dealing with Iran.
White House Spokesperson clarified that while Trump "is not afraid to use military force against Iran," he "prefers the diplomatic option."
Trump had previously threatened to launch strikes on Iran "if protesters are killed" during the demonstrations that have gripped the country for days.
Meanwhile, Iran announced that it is keeping the door for negotiations with the United States open, while remaining "prepared for war."
The U.S. President is expected to hold a meeting with his national security team on Tuesday to discuss supporting the protests, emphasizing that he is considering "very strong options," including potential military intervention.
