U.S. President Donald Trump announced during a televised address from the White House early Thursday morning that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran could continue for another two to three weeks.
Trump praised the successes of the American campaign, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury," and reiterated his assurance that the conflict would not be prolonged.
"We’re going to finish the job, and we’re going to finish it very quickly," he stated.
The U.S. President asserted that he has taken actions regarding Iran that none of his predecessors were willing to take. "In short, I did what no other president was prepared to do," Trump added. "They made mistakes, and I am correcting them."
Furthermore, Trump claimed that "there would be no Middle East and no Israel" had he not terminated the nuclear deal brokered by former President Barack Obama with Iran.
The war, initiated by the United States and Israel on February 28, began with a series of airstrikes across Iran, including a strike that resulted in the death of the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
